Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. -Romans 16:25-27
In Paul’s closing Doxology, we’re given a great reminder of what the gospel is capable of doing. This passage circles back to Paul’s beginning of this letter in Romans 1:16 “...for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” Another translation puts it this way, “since it is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting.” This is a powerful reminder that this Good News is something that continues to work in us. It isn’t an event that happens once in our lives, it is something that becomes a part of us and then changes us completely. Share with your group what God is doing in your life right now. Talk about any ways your eyes have been opened to new truth through our study of Romans.
